FAQ
Our Roll Bags are sized to fit almost all standard pet waste stations. Our Header Bags are purposely larger than many of our competitors' bags due to popular demand. Our customers want their products to be able to serve large breed dog owners and allow for dog poop to be picked up with one bag. Because of this, there are certain brand station dispensers that are too small for our bags. We welcome and encourage sample requests prior to purchase to ensure that our bags will serve your needs. Also if the bags are too big for your station after purchase please contact us for discount pricing on a replacement dispenser for your station.
The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has updated its regulations as applied to our industry regarding biodegradable labeling standards. To our knowledge, there are no pet waste bag manufacturers that meet the new standard of biodegradable which is defined by degradation in a landfill environment within one year. However, although of limited value currently, all of our plastic dog waste bags contain the additive TDPA® which is a ASTM Certified non-toxic technology from EPI® that should significantly lower the half-life of plastic in ideal open waste disposal environments and break it down to non-toxic products unlike traditional bags. However if the landfill is anaerobic (without oxygen) no biodegradable or compostable product will degrade quickly including even paper or food. Research is currently being done to improve landfills by making them more aerobic and adding more microbes to increase the breakdown of all garbage there.
Don't be fooled by false claims that compostable pet waste bags are of benefit in landfills as opposed to plastic. Although those bags are made from more renewable raw materials which is great, they do not break down faster in the landfills. Certain landfill excavations have shown that organic waste is actually entombed/mummified and have not broken down at all. The small amount of biodegradation that happens is extremely slow due to the landfill conditions. This small amount may actually lead to extra toxic methane production which is harmful to our air and ground water and can even lead to unstable soil. This is why food and other organic compounds are recommended to be composted.
Unfortunately most compost facilities will not accept pet waste. It is for this reason that we are not currently producing compostable pet waste station bags. Also the significant added cost to property managers would discourage them from having them available which would lead to more pet waste not picked up which is more dangerous to our ground water. Our mission is to continue to use advancing technology to have pet waste to leave a smaller footprint on our world. Stay tuned for changes.
Though we too can appreciate a nice scent, we don't like the idea of adding any perfumes, chemicals etc into our bags both for environmental reasons as well as we find most customers do not like or want it. Many scented bags have an overpowering odor sometimes even worse than the smell of poop! From a medical standpoint the unscented bags are more hypoallergenic for people and pets.
You should store the bags in a cool, dry place. The bags shouldn't be kept in direct sunlight or heat. Ideally you should try to not keep your bags for more than one year.
Pet waste bags should not be flushed and can cause plumbing issues if you did. All bags containing waste should be tied and then thrown out in the trash.
Our bags are manufactured and treated in a way to make them easier to open.
